Topeka First UMC News, Info., & Events
Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you are having a great week! I invite you to be in prayer for our youth group as they travel to Camp Chippewa for their Fall retreat tomorrow. They will be at the retreat Friday evening and return on Sunday by noon. Tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 24, is our annual 8 am - 10 am Fall outdoor church grounds clean-up. We have a number of projects that need to be completed around the church. If you didn't already tell Dave Hutchinson you could help, feel free to come between 8 & 10 am to help. Bring your outdoor tools & gloves. On Sunday, please remember that we are combining all three services so that we can all worship together at 10:45. Directly after the service, we will have our Fall-O-Ween celebration. I hope you'll join us for lunch and activites! Chili & hot dogs are on the menu! If you've signed up to bring hot dogs or chili, please bring them hot unless you've already made arrangements with us. This Sunday will have beautiful weather and is an opportunity for all of us as a church family, including ourfor family, friends, or neighbors, to be in fellowship together. Kids are welcome to wear their costumes, and we all can dress casually this week. In worship, the theme is “Look At What God Can Do When Life Is Scary.” I hope you will join us 10:45 am! The 10:45 am service will also be live-streamed in case you can't be in person with us. See you Sunday, |

Christmas Dinner Survey!
"I wish we still had a Christmas Dinner as a church family (like we used to do...). It's the hope of many that we can eat together in Fellowship Hall during the Christmas season! In my 4 years here, it has been a frequent "wish" I've heard from so many church family members. As I understand it, it's been almost 15 years since we celebrated the season together with a Christmas Dinner. Wow!! I love to be in fellowship with my church family and I think it is very important we practice slowing down & simply enjoy the company of others! As you know, Shawna's motto is "Don't say 'No' for anyone else!" We anticipate many will want to enjoy dinner together & I encourage you to click the link below and let us know of your interest! Tamla Miller, Joan Tempero, & Shawna Heien have agreed to handle the organization details with me so let us know if you'll be coming, if you can donate, or if you have questions! Sunday, December 13 is the date! Noon is the time! The Children's Christmas program will be held before the Noon Christmas dinner so there will be lots of extra family members...another reason to celebrate together! Now, we have to figure out the details. This meal will need to be completely prepped at home (or purchased) and donated. This survey is to gauge interest and participation. If you have questions, please see Shawna Heien, Tamla Miller, Joan Tempero, or call the church: 785-233-8100.
