November 3 eNote from Pastor Jeff

Thank you all for the generous and gracious response you have shown regarding the wedding of Rocco Savino and Julie Nelson. I’m looking forward to celebrating with them and with many of you this Sunday afternoon at 3pm in the chapel. Again, you’re all invited as their church family to celebrate this special occasion with them.
This weekend in worship we begin a new series and we will celebrate All Saints Day and receive Holy Communion in all three services. It should be a wonderful morning of worship!
All Saints Day is a remembrance of those who have come before us. While United Methodists don’t venerate saints in the same way that the Roman Catholic Church does, we do recognize that there are people whose legacies live on well beyond their living years, people who make a significant difference in the lives of their families and the communities to which they’re connected. On Sunday we will pause during worship and remember those persons from our family of faith who have passed in the last year.
In his book The Divine Conspiracy, Dallas Willard says that following Jesus is about “learning from Jesus to live my life as he would live my life if he were I.” This weekend and for the two weeks following we’ll walk through a conversation about “Living Like Jesus.” In these messages we’ll explore the heart of what it means to be intentional followers of Jesus. I hope that you’ll make it a point to be present in worship for this series!
Finally, don’t forget that we set clocks back an hour this weekend. Have a great weekend, enjoy your extra hour of sleep, and I’ll see you in worship Sunday!
