Greetings Topeka First UMC,

I hope that you are having a great week!

This weekend is graduation weekend for many high school and college graduates. Congratulations to all the graduates and their families!

Coming up Sunday in worship, Earl Williams, the UMC campus pastor for Washburn University will be preaching. Earl is a gifted preacher and is doing amazing work with the campus ministry. He is building relationships with students and walking with them in their faith and college journeys. I hope you will join us at 8:15 am, 9:30 am, or 10:45 am on Sunday!

One other note. Two weeks ago, when we got four inches of rain, the Fellowship Hall flooded once again. We have been working with Chavez Restoration and our insurance company to get everything cleaned up. We are also receiving bids and looking at options to work on the bigger issues of why the basement is flooding. We will keep you updated!

The April 28 Leadership Council notes can be found here. The next Leaderhsip Council meeting is next Tuesday which is a week earlier than normal because of Annual Conference.

Blessings,
Pastor Brad

New Book Study--A Woman God Can Use

Thursday Mornings, 10 am, June 11 - July 16

A new Thursday morning book study begins June 11 at 10 am and continues through July 16. Led by Tiwana Whitten, a group of up to 8 will study the book, "A Woman God Can Use." The group will journey with six Old Testament women whose experiences closely reflect the challenges many women  still face today. Author Alice Matthews offers encouragement and guidance for everyday issues and struggles. The study is meant to encourage women to  discover renewed hope and inspiration and to strengthen their own walk with God.

Our gathering place will be announced soon. Books are $8.00. Please email Tiwana if you would like to attend.
