Acts: 2:43-47
Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts2:43-47 Greetings Topeka First UMC, I hope that you’re having a great week and staying cool!
In May, we met to plan our annual Block Party. One of the thoughts that the team discussed was moving the date back a few weeks so that we could enjoy the cooler weather! Sounded like a great plan! The current forecast for Sunday is about 100 degrees. So, we are moving the Block Party inside. We have a lot of experience with this because it has been so hot each year we have moved everything inside.
However, the hot temperatures shouldn’t keep anyone away!
We have tons of food that includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, sides, and ice cream!
We will also enjoy the music of Kyler Carpenter and Josh Hoover, the world famous cake walk, face painting, and plenty of fun on the playground.
To make this event a success, we need your help! You can support the Block Party:
1. By praying for the Holy Spirit to come and be with us.
2. Attend and bring family, friends, or neighbors.
3. We could still use more coolers and cakes for the cake walk.
4. If you would like to help set up, plan on attending one of the first 2 services to help with setup at
10:30am. 5. Because of the Block Party on Sunday, I invite everyone to dress casual for worship.
In worship on Sunday, we will conclude our sermon series called “Good News In Bad Times.” With the Block party on Sunday, the “Good News” is all about community! I hope that you will join us for worship on Sunday as we celebrate all that God is doing in our church community, as we live out the “Good News” at the Block Party!
See you Sunday,
Pastor Brad
