May 25 eNote from Pastor Jeff

This week marked the end of another school year and now the Clinger house has a 4th grader and a 1st grader looking forward to some summer fun. Time just flies by, doesn’t it?!
As we head into Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer, I find myself reflecting on the last school year. Some pretty important things are learned in kindergarten and in third grade. Looking at the first day of school and last day of school pictures it is clear the ways in which students grow over the course of a year. However, as we get older we often stop snapping pictures at the beginning and the end of something to reflect on how we have grown, but as followers of Jesus, the hope is that we are always growing.
On Wednesday night of this week we wrapped up our Wednesday evening programming for the school year. We had one last meal (and a special celebratory cake), we watched a brief video celebrating and recapping what our Children have been up to during Wednesday evenings this fall, and the kids sang a couple of songs for adults before adults went off to the last of their classes and kids went out for some fun on the playground.
Wednesday evenings this school year have been a great time for midweek intergenerational connections and opportunities for people of all ages to grow together. I am grateful for Allison Brewer, our Director of Children’s Discipleship, and all of the volunteers who worked with her to make Wednesday evenings so successful this year. These midweek opportunities for connection and growth have been a significant part of our church’s life this last year!
I know that the Children’s Discipleship team is already talking about plans for next year and inviting others into conversation regarding ways to make midweek programming a meaningful opportunity for all people connected to the church to grow in their Christ-likeness on a week to week basis. As details are finalized and information comes out over the summer about plans for the next school year I hope you’ll consider being involved!
This weekend in worship we conclude the series we’re calling “Entitled” with a message I’m simply calling “Gifted and Called.” I look forward to seeing you in worship as we close out this series.
