As followers of Jesus we are invited to share God’s love and point out the inbreaking of God’s kingdom in all of the places we work, live, and play. Simply being nice and polite people no longer distinguishes followers of Jesus from the rest of the world. Through this series we will be introduced to and invited to adopt a series of practices to help us live our lives in ways that open the doors to meaningful conversations in our circles of influence. Based on Michael Frost’s “Surprise the World.”

July 1st – VBS Celebration, One Combined Service

Living Questionable Lives: Blessing

Scripture: Genesis 12:1-2, Philippians 2:3-4, and Ephesians 2:10

As people of faith, we have a heritage dating back to Abraham of being blessed to be a blessing. In this message, we will briefly overview the entire series and spend time talking specifically about what it means to be intentional about blessing people (both inside and outside of our church family) on a regular basis.

July 8th

Living Questionable Lives: Eating

Scripture: Luke 7:34 and 1 Corinthians 11:17-25

Much of Jesus’ ministry centered around eating with people. During his last meal with his followers, Jesus gave instructions to eat and drink in remembrance of him. In this message, we’ll be invited to expand our understanding of that imagery beyond Holy Communion and to think about how we share Christ’s love by intentionally eating with people (both inside and outside of our church family) on a regular basis.

July 15th

Living Questionable Lives: Listening

Scripture: Psalm 46:10, Matthew 6:6, John 14:26

We live in a busy and noisy time. As we continue looking for ways to experience and share the work that God is doing in our lives and in the world there is a need to slow down, silence our beings and listen for the guidance of God through the Spirit. In this message, we’ll explore ways that we can do that by dedicating a specific period of time to listening to God each week.

July 22nd

Living Questionable Lives: Learning

Scripture: Philippians 2:5-8 and Luke 1:1-4

As we seek to follow Jesus and grow in our Christ-likeness, it is incredibly important that we know Jesus and that we know about Jesus. In this message, we’ll be encouraged to be intentional about learning more about Jesus and introduced to some ways that we might do that.

July 29th

Living Questionable Lives: A Sent People

Luke 7:18-22 and Matthew 28:18-20

As we bring this series to a close we’ll reflect on the new rhythms to which we have been introduced and the way in which we might continue to live into them moving forward. We’ll also add a fifth rhythm, the way in which we intentionally reflect on and process how we are living as a people sent to share God’s love and illustrate the inbreaking of Christ’s reign here on earth.
