Luke 9:23-25

Jesus promises to afflict us, His followers, when we become too comfortable. The Spirit nudges us to be aware of the pain and suffering of others…to change our lives…to take risks for the sake of sharing God’s love in sacrificial ways. Our graduates in particular will be challenged this day to live and love sacrificially.

Ephesians 4:1-16

All of us are gifted in unique ways, and we are invited to use our gifts for a common purpose-the work of the body. We are entitled not just to a gifting, but also to a calling. Responding in faith and using our gifts to pursue our call is rewarding and energizing. Misusing our gifts and focusing them on our own gain is exhausting and draining.
