Strategic Priorities–Thanks to our new leaders!

On behalf of the Leadership Council, I feel blessed and excited to let you know that we have the following Leaders and team members on each strategic priority:
Building Discipleship
  • Leader: Karla Hedquist
  • Team Members: Larry Dye, Mitchell Fick (several other members are prayerfully considering serving)

College Age to Boomers Gap (Life Stage Ministries)

  • Leader: Shawn Evans
  • Team Members: Evelyn Eubank, Tamla Miller, Laura Reiman, Mallory Lutz, Stephanie Moser and Augie Hedquist
Downtown Engagement
  • Leaders: Marsha Oliver and Laura Lutz
  • Team Members: Nancy Lewis, Doris Wills and Dave Frederick
The next step is the initial meetings to begin establishing specific strategies, timelines, identifiable results and necessary resources. The Downtown Engagement team is currently working on activities for the St. Patrick’s Day downtown parade, because it is fast approaching and we didn’t want to miss this opportunity to extend our hand in Christian fellowship!
Please continue to pray for the teams, moving us forward where God is leading us. Also, stay tuned for information next week on a spring congregational fellowship opportunity!

Progress Forward
February 24, 2016
Leadership Council has decided the mission of the UMC to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation for the world” describes the mission of First Church as well.
Based on the information gathered and voting at the All Church Retreat, the Council is moving forward with the following three strategic priorities:
1.  Building Disciples.  (This will include worship)
2.  College Age to Boomers Gap. (Life stage ministries)
3.  Downtown Engagement.
At the last Council meeting, we identified leaders and team members we believe would be a good fit for each priority.  If you are contacted for service, please prayerfully consider serving with your talents.  The teams will be tasked with establishing strategies that are key to the success of the priority; establishing timelines; implementing the strategies; and measuring and evaluating success.
Based on the Ministry Architects report, the Council is also appointing a Children’s Ministry renovation team to begin the process of implementing the report.
Further, our future plans may include a follow-up retreat.  We will keep you posted!
